Overview

Co-founded and led an emergency resource portal during one of India's most challenging times—the second wave of COVID-19 in March 2021. When people were scrambling for life-saving resources but had no centralized way to find them, we built a platform that became a lifeline for thousands. The portal provided real-time access to critical information including plasma donors, emergency hospital beds, and wholesale medical supply vendors. What started as a simple information repository evolved into a full-scale emergency response system with 30 volunteers and partnerships with two major non-profits.

The Challenge

During the devastating second wave of COVID-19 in March 2021, people across India were desperately searching for emergency medical resources—plasma donors, hospital beds, oxygen supplies, and medicines. Information was scattered, outdated, and difficult to access when every minute counted. There was no centralized platform to connect people in need with available resources. The situation was chaotic, and lives were at stake.

The Solution

Built an accessible emergency resource portal that served as a centralized repository for critical COVID-19 resources. The platform provided information on plasma donors, emergency beds, and medical supply wholesalers. We added a "Request Emergency Info" feature where our team would manually assist users in finding resources. As requests poured in, we rapidly scaled from shared Excel sheets to a full-fledged admin portal. We recruited 30 volunteers and partnered with two non-profits to pool resources and fulfill emergency requests. The accessible design led to unexpectedly high engagement, giving us real-time insights into ground-zero needs.
